The group is integrated by 5 faculty members\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and a variable number of post-doctoral and PhD students. <strong>We seek two highly motivated\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">candidate<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(predoctoral or postdoctoral) to develop computational multiscale personalized <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">models of the electrical activity of the heart to enable the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">in silico<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">testing of drug efficacy and <\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\"><strong>safety under healthy and pathological conditions.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The candidates will be contracted for three <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">years and working in the frame of the EU funded research project: <\/span><\/span><span id=\"page87R_mcid3\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\u201cSimulation of Cardiac Devices &amp; Drugs for in-silico Testing and Certification\u201d (SimCardioTest), <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Call H2020-SC1-DTH-2018-2020, Research and Innovation Action (Topic SC1-DTH-06-2020).<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page87R_mcid4\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The candidate will be fully integrated in the group as active members.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span id=\"page87R_mcid5\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The group has an ample experience in modeling and simulating the electrical activity of the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">heart. Throughout our cardiac simulation work, we have developed and analyzed cardiac action <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">potential (AP) models of different tissues (atrium, ventricle, and Purkinje) and different animal <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">species (dog, rabbit, guinea pig, and human) under normal and under several pathological <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">conditions, such as ischemia, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and mutations. The group also has a <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">valuable experience in modeling the effects of drugs on different ionic channels. Moreover, we have <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">developed computational tools for the simulation of the electrophysiological activity of a variety of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">tissue\u00a0 structures (unicellular, one-dimensional, bi-dimensional and tri-dimensional).<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span id=\"page87R_mcid6\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><strong><span id=\"page87R_mcid7\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">ROLE SUMMARY:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span id=\"page87R_mcid8\" class=\"markedContent\"><\/span><span id=\"page87R_mcid9\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The candidate will develop cellular to 3D cardiac personalized models to simulate the effects of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">drugs on the electrical activity of the heart. Methods of image processing and mathematical <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">modeling will be used to achieve the objectives. The candidate will receive data from our <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">collaborators from the clinical and pharmaceutical field to build realistic and personalized models,\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">as well as population of models considering variability and uncertainty. Development of multiscale personalized models, as well as populations of models, where <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">variability will be considered.
